Very soon the new Gutenberg editor will land in WordPress 5.0 and people are talking. What is Gutenberg? According to Yoast SEO this new editing environment in WordPress is “the first step for a bright new future for WordPress”.
In their latest blog post Yoast goes one to elaborate about the features of Gutenberg and are embracing the change ahead as WordPress continues to grow and adapt to new technology. The plugin is available to install on your WordPress site, so you can have a go at it and discover its features before the release in WordPress 5.0.
The goal of the block editor is to make adding rich content to WordPress simple and enjoyable. – From the Gutenberg plugin description on WordPress.org.
Probably the most exciting thing about the new editor is the ability to create content blocks. This means we won’t need those costly plugins that make pages and posts look pretty and are easy to use. Gutenberg promises to be a nice alternative.
Previously in WordPress if you wanted to build a page with columns or rows you would have to use shortcode, or a widget. With Gutenberg, you can easily add blocks to build a really good looking page.
